Like the original Native Tongue enhanced CD (2001), this is a project through which I'm documenting my musical journey and the unique writing/playing collaborations I've had the privilege of sharing with my highly respected close musical friends through the years.

I wrote this in response to a suggestion from collaborator, Gary Bivona. Initially, I showed him the track as an instrumental piece. Then he suggested, after having just watched the movie, "Born on the Fourth of July," that I write some lyrics about the story of Ron Kovic. So I wrote these lyrics with that story in mind. Although he was the third singer slated to sing both lead and backing vocals on this song, long-time friend and vocalist Jose Ortiz became a key ingredient in the mix and was ultimately the most equipped singer to deliver the desired vibe and emotion. I was also thrilled to have Chad Eisinger, a monster musician and former bandmate on drums. He performed and engineered the drums at his own home studio in Phoenix, Arizona. Finally, Drew Preston Kushner is a friend and stellar guitarist who has made appearances all over my original material and put his heart and soul into each performance, taking ownership of each of these projects. Thanks, Drew.
Why did I believe,
Love it or leave?
And why did You choose me to sacrifice
I'm scarred for life, I'm paralyzed
And you tell me to leave it all behind, well I'd
Put it all
On the line
Any time
To be whole again
To be home again
I had a chance to lay down when they shot me once before
That's not what a hero does in war
Now I'm back and I'm treated like a villain in this town
When I thought it was you I was fighting for
I just want to be whole again
I remember, it all made sense
I just want to be home again
~ Guitar Solos ~
Why do they all stare?
Nobody cares
Hold on, who said that life ever would be fair?
You blessed this war, this rich man’s war
Now you beg for your humanity, well they
sent you there
Unaware,
On a dare,
And I can't go on
I can't go on
There’s a battle raging on right here at home, my friend
Listen and you’ll hear the muffled screams
What they sell is only a delusion in the end
When they finally wake you from the dream
I just want to be whole again
I remember, it all made sense
I just want to be home again
